Stand Location: Scouting And Mapping
with Bill Winke

Bill Winke, Whitetails Columnist

It’s difficult to predict the behavior of mature whitetails bucks. But, in order to waylay a trophy, archery hunters must make their best assessment of future buck movement. Scouting, then, becomes a key tool in any successful hunt. Petersen’s Bowhunting whitetail columnist Bill Winke has logged a lot of time studying how whitetails move within specific habitats. Today, Bill shares his tips and tricks for reading sign, and also for using topographic maps and aerial photos, to place stands in the path of those big bucks. Bill emphasizes that attention to detail can never be taken too seriously in any scouting endeavor.
