2017’s broadhead lineup is a “cut” above, and we’ve got the best of best from the Archery Trade Show in Indianapolis.

Best-New-Broadheads

The 2017 ATA Show brings innovations to all bowhunting categories, and broadheads are certainly no exception.

So without further ado, here are the best new broadheads from the show floor.

Zap ‘Em!
Bloodsport Archery unleashes the High Voltage ($39.99), a wicked-looking mechanical broadhead designed to destroy. The integrated chisel tip busts through bones, and the 420-stainless-steel blades open to 2 inches to inflict maximum damage to vitals, resulting in lightning-fast kills. The High Voltage’s patented blade-retention system eliminates the need for O-rings or rubber bands. The ferrule is constructed from 416 hardened steel. This ensures field-point flight, even from today’s rocket-fast bows. Available in 100 grains, the High Voltage redefines the word “deadly.”

Now in 125 Grain
Wasp’s 100-grain Drone is recognized by many hunters as a wicked-sharp, superior-flying and affordable fixed-blade broadhead. But, with today’s rocket-fast bows, it was necessary for Wasp to offer a 125-grain version so bowhunters shooting high-energy bows can benefit from the hard-hitting power of a heavier broadhead. The new 125-grain Drone ($29.99) is outfitted with three .027-inch-thick stainless-steel blades and Wasp’s proprietary SST tip. The combination is designed to bore through flesh and bone, creating a deadly 1 1/8-inch swatch. With these attributes, the all-new 125-grain Drone will quickly become a favorite.

Real Steel
With Wac’Em Expandable broadheads ($44.99), true field-tip accuracy is achieved through tight ferrule tolerances and an aerodynamic in-flight profile. The large tip bores out a port, making way for the razor-sharp expandable blades, which open to 1 ½ inches. The result is maximum devastation and easy-to-follow bloodtrails. For 2016, Wac’Em now offers the USA-made Expandable in a steel model in two- and three-blade configurations. Of course, the steel ferrule is tough as nails, withstanding the hard knocks that come from driving through bones and into dirt. Unlike most competing broadheads, Wac’Em Expandables are sold in packs of four hunting heads.

Destroy the Pump Station
The legendary Ted Nugent worked with Dead Ringer to co-engineer the PSD (Pump Station Disconnect). It’s a solid, one-piece 2-blade broadhead that produces large entry and exit wounds with maximum blood flow for easy tracking or no tracking at all. Constructed for extremely accurate flight, the PSD features a cut-on-contact blade designed to obliterate the pump station. The PSD ($34.99) is rigidly built, suiting it for game both large and small. And with a 1 1/8-inch cutting diameter, the PSD penetrates like a champion.

Deep Six
Magnus has been developing cut-on-contact broadheads since 1984, with the Stinger being perhaps its most popular model of all time. This year, Magnus offers the Stinger in a Deep Six version. The Stinger Deep Six broadhead ($39.99) tapers to match shaft diameter, reducing friction and drag in flight and while penetrating. It’s available in a 4-blade, 100-grain configuration. But Magnus doesn’t stop there; the Stinger Buzzcut, which features chiseled serration for more effective internal devastation, is also now offered in Deep Six. The knife-grade stainless steel is shaving sharp and can be re-sharpened. The Stinger Buzzcut Deep Six is precision machined and spin-tested for optimal flight.

Dead Meat
For years, G5 Outdoors has been producing deadly broadheads, and its new Dead Meat mechanical ($54.95) is no exception. The 100-percent stainless-steel construction epitomizes durability, and a large 1 ½-inch cutting diameter via three heavy-duty blades creates huge wound channels for lightning-fast kills with incredible blood trails. The SnapLock collar provides quick and secure blade retention for the ultimate dependability. Available in 100- and 125-grain configurations, as well as Deep Six and Crossbow versions, the 100-percent spin-tested Dead Meat flies impeccably.

Unleash Your Inner Carnivore
Years of innovation and product development have led Grim Reaper to launch its Pro Series broadhead line ($44.99 per 4-pack), which includes the wicked and deadly stainless-steel Carni-Four. Featuring Staggered Blade Technology, the aptly named Carni-Four features a 4-blade design that cuts a large, square entrance wound for massive blood flow and easy tracking. The ultra-durable ferrule is designed to withstand bone impacts, and with an overall 2 ¾-inch linear cut, nothing devastates like a Carni-Four.

New Blue
DirtNap Gear delivers the DRT Blue ($39.99), which features DirtNap’s patented Modular Weight System so you can change between 100 and 125 grains. The ferrule is made from 7075 aircraft-grade aluminum, while the blade is crafted from Teflon-coated 420J2 stainless steel. The main blade creates a 1 3/16-inch cutting diameter, and 5/8-inch bleeder blades further expand tissue damage without adding wind resistance. Field-point accuracy rounds out the DRT Blue.

Double or Nothing
The American-made Spitfire DoubleCross 100-grain broadhead ($39.99) integrates four, failure-free blades with two-stage deployment. The stage-one, front-deploying main blades have a 1 7/8-inch cutting diameter, and the stage-two, rear-deploying bleeder blades open to 1 1/8 inches. The vertical and horizontal cutting properties create larger entry and exit wounds, allowing maximum blood flow for easy-to-follow trails. The DoubleCross features NAP’s bone-splitting Trophy Tip, and proven Spitfire blade-retention technology – no rubber bands or O-rings needed – ensures blades don’t open in flight. Super-durable and ultra-accurate, the DoubleCross is even approved for the market’s fastest crossbows!

That’s Gonna Leave a Mark
TITANIUM X 100-grain mechanical broadheads from TRUGLO set the bar for durability and performance, featuring a superior Grade 5 CNC-machined one-piece titanium ferrule. The TRU-CUT one-piece titanium tip notches out a pilot hole for the colossal cutting diameter that follows – 2 3/16 inches (2-blade) or 1 ¾ inches with 7/8-inch inner blades (4-blade). TRU-THRU stainless-steel blades are .031-inch-thick and designed to survive hard impacts, while maximizing hemorrhaging. TITANIUM X mechanical broadheads are spin-tested and sharpness-tested for ultimate reliability and irrefutable performance. Torque-balancing blades open on impact and self-navigate around bones for maximum penetration. One set of replacement blades are included. A 4-blade crossbow model is also available.

Devastation Redefined
SWAT Broadheads (Superior Whitetail Assassin Technology) are durably designed with straightness and penetration in mind. The Model A4 ($49.95) optimizes radial surface to contain four blades. The X-OUT tip blades are perpendicular and allow maximum hemorrhaging. As the A4 contacts the animal, the impact blades open to a 2-plus-inch cutting diameter, and once the broadhead enters the ribcage, secondary blades open to 1 ¾ inches, destroying vitals and creating a massive exit wound. A rubber band retains the blades in flight, yet allows the blades to deploy easily on impact. A small in-flight profile produces field-point accuracy.

One and Done
Rexpid now offers its broadheads individually in single packs. Single packs ($12.99) enable you to choose your favorite combination of broadheads, or try different models, without committing to a traditional 3-pack. As with all Rexpid broadheads, a hard case is included. These newly developed single hard cases give you the freedom to take as many broadheads as needed while keeping everything nicely organized.

Hypo Gets New Look and Configuration
Trypanophobia is the fear of needles, and Rage’s new Hypodermic Trypan ($54.99) is perhaps the scariest broadhead ever produced. The 100-grain Hypodermic Trypan features a needle-like point integrated into its streamlined titanium ferrule. It boasts a 2-inch cutting diameter, but creates slap-cut entry wounds up to and over 2 ½ inches. The sweptback blade angle promotes penetration, and the .039-inch stainless-steel blades are wicked sharp. The grey polymer Trypan-specific Shock Collar retains blades exceptionally, yet provides consistent and reliable blade deployment. An included practice head allows bowhunters to check broadhead accuracy without spending the sharp blades on the hunting heads.

Hard-Hitting Mechanical
For years, RamCat has produced wicked fixed-blade broadheads that hit hard and cut like crazy. For 2017, it introduces the RamCat 100-Grain Mechanical ($39.99). It features Concave Scoop Technology for unparalleled accuracy and penetration. A rock-hard stainless-steel tip busts through bones and withstands use and abuse, and the 3-blade design delivers a 1 ½-inch cutting diameter. A low flight profile ensures field-point accuracy, and stainless-steel blades are razor-sharp, opening in jackknife style upon impact to inflict maximum damage for outstanding blood trails.

Stronger
For 2017, Swhacker introduces its all-steel expandable broadheads ($49.95). The strength and rigidity of the solid, one-piece 420-stainless-steel ferrule and razor-sharp chisel tip deliver bone-crushing kinetic energy and increase penetration by up to 10 percent. The surgical-steel blades destroy vitals, while delivering larger exit wounds and unmatched blood trails. Both the 1.5 and 2.0 feature an ultra-compact closed-blade position for field-point accuracy. Swhacker’s simple, fail-safe mechanical design, matched with the strength of stainless steel, packs the ultimate punch for the 2017 hunting season. A 1.5-inch 100-grain model and 2-inch 125-grain model are your choices.
