Feel the Heat

Feel the Heat

Cold weather clothing and gear.

Whitewater Outdoors has teamed up with Realtree Outdoors to produce cold weather 'garments of necessity' for those who live or hunt in regions where snowfall is not only a possibility, but then hangs around for a while. Whitewater's Reversible Sherpa to Hardwoods Snow Jacket (2230) and matching Bibs (5230) are not only waterproof and breathable since Rainblocker protection makes them so, they're also soft and whisper-quiet because the Realtree AP side is made of tricot while the Hardwoods Snow side is warm Sherpa fleece. Features like the jacket's attached hood, bibs' knee leg zippers, and quick release, shoulder-strap buckles all highlight an outfit that's destined to become a clothing workhorse in cold or snowy weather. Gloves and hat also available for 100-percent protection.

Frigid outside? Feel the heat in Scent-Lok's ThunderTek 4X4 Quattro Jacket (SKU6312) and Performance Pant. ThunderTek items are waterproof and breathable. ClimaFlex activated carbon fabric adsorbs human scent. The Timberfleece 360 zip-in liner jacket can be worn beneath the Quattro outer shell as an extra layer or zipped out for solo use in milder weather. Both jacket shell and pant are insulated with lightweight, warm Primaloft which consists of specially-treated, water-resistant, manmade fibers that retain body heat, whether dry or wet, much like wool does. Slip on BaseSlayers with ClimaFleece--an insulated zip-up long sleeve top and pull on pant--beneath the ThunderTek and Climafleece technology will help keep you even warmer.

ArcticShield's innovative cold weather H5 Pro Series clothing is lighter, quieter and more functional than any previous ArcticShield selections. The company's forté is developing multi-layered thermal barrier technologies rather than relying on thicker insulations that simply retard heat loss. ArcticShield's warm, low-bulk H5 Pro Series Jacket and Pant are windproof, waterproof and breathable, have quiet sueded outer shells, a soft brushed polyester lining, and employ RE-tain heat-retention technology. Lots of pockets, as well as a zippered air vent beneath each armpit provide even more reasons to check out ArcticShield before making a cold weather move.

Go fearlessly into the cold when wearing Robinson Outdoors ScentShield Base Layers with S3 Silver ShieldTechnology. Using antimicrobial S3 Silver Shield in both base layers and tech wear is genius: cut down, at the source, offensive human odors. S3 Silver Shield is incorporated into all of Robinson's 4-way stretch merino wool base layers which include long-sleeved, seamless T-shirt, seamless pant, and socks in either midweight or expedition weight. Feel invincible to cold and to being detected by wary game animals by combining S3 technology with the ScentBlocker Outfitter Jacket and Pant, both made waterproof and breathable with the addition of Rainblocker. The jacket's zip-out, reversible Sherpa fleece vest and adjustable, removable armguard are exactly what discriminating archery hunters look for when shopping for cold weather wardrobes.

Stay warm, and smug, since the holiday savings account is safe when you decide to purchase RedHead's Mountain Stalker Elite Hooded Jacket and matching Insulated Bibs from Bass Pro Shop. This cold-fighting duo generates real heat because both jacket and bibs are fortified with waterproof/breathable Bone-Dry protection as well as Thinsulate insulation--200 grams in the jacket, 150 grams in the bibs. Extreme cold calls for extreme measures, like rushing to either a computer or phone to order Cabela's Stand Hunter Extreme Series Parka (XH960124) and Bibs once cold weather threatens. Made with Cabela's Q-Tec, an extremely quiet fabric that's also exceptionally warm, and featuring a zone insulation system that reduces bulk while maximizing warmth, the Parka's extras include articulated sleeves, low-bulk cuffs, an integrated hand-warmer muff, two interior chemical-warmer pockets above the kidneys, and a substantial 300-grams of Thinsulate Supreme in the jacket's core area. Bibs are insulated with 200-grams of Thinsulate Supreme, with 500 additional grams in the rear end, which will be much appreciated on days when leaning against a tree or perching on a heat-sapping metal seat is the only action you see.

ThermoLogic Apparel wants to keep archery hunters warm. They aim to do so with an extensive line-up of lightweight, highly-efficient heated apparel that's durable, practical and washable. ThermoLogic's red hot selection of items warm without benefit of bulky batteries or a network of wires. ThermoLogic INK-TEK technology is instead applied directly to the apparel and then operated with an easy-to-use control. Create your own micro-environment by using the control's three temperature settings: low (85-degrees F.), medium (98.7-degrees F.) and high (110-degrees F.) Numb toes, nose or fingers? ThermoLogic's socks, hats and gloves will cancel out cold. ThermoLogic Jackets, vests and bibs, each of which comes with a battery recharger, two 2-inch x 3-inch batteries and two pulse modulators, is fashioned with two separate pockets, one for each battery-pulse module combination, so it's easy to remove the devices before laundering.

"You stay warm or your money back." That's tough talk from the same folks who solved the puzzle of what to wear in sub-zero weather to stay warm without sacrificing mobility. Climb inside a Heater Body Suit and let the suit do the rest. Just like fingers feel warmer in a mitten instead of a glove, an insulated, water-resistant, windproof and lower body-encompassing Heater Body Suit will do the same for an archery hunter. A safety harness, included with each suit, feeds out a strap at the rear of the suit's collar and should be attached to the tree before getting into or out of the suit, and remain attached while bowhunting. Available in all Skyline camo patterns.
