SHOT Show: Recycled Camo

by Christian Berg   |  January 19th, 2012 2

Here’s one of the coolest things I saw at SHOT Show this year: camo hunting garments made completely from recycled soda bottles.

The line from RT Edge features everything from base layers to waterproof outerwear in patterns from Mossy Oak, Realtree and others. The fabric used to make the fabric is spun entirely from plastic from recycled beverage bottles. And I can tell you from feeling it that this stuff is soft, strong, quiet and feels very much like the polyester blends used by other hunting apparel makers.

In addition to the obvious “green” factor, RT Edge is also able to incorporate waterproofing, insect repellency and cover scents directly into its fabric manufacturing process, offering some significant performance options for hunters.

This was some very interesting stuff, and as far as I know, it’s unique in the outdoor market. What do you think?
