It was October 25, 2005, with the temperature in the mid-'30s and a light north wind. Conditions were perfect for bowhunting. My buddy Tom arrived at 5:15 a.m. to pick me up only to realize he had rushed out of the house so quickly he had forgotten his bow. After a 30-minute ride and constant joking we arrived at our hunting ground. That's when I realized I had forgotten my release. I told him to get in his stand and I would go home and get my release and come back. Knowing the bucks were starting to look for does, something just told me to be in my stand that morning. I finally returned and sat down at 6:55 a.m. At 7:30 I shot my best buck ever at 13 yards, proving that some things are just meant to be.
