I arrived early on August 25, 2006 and hiked out in the dark to set up my blind. It was 60 degrees and raining. Shortly after first light, about 7 a.m., a good buck split away from the herd of antelope I had been watching. He made his way to the fence and presented me with a 23-yard shot. I saw my arrow connect and realized that I had hit high. I waited impatiently for over an hour, calling my husband, and also calling a seasoned archery hunter for a little advice. Before I knew it, my husband, and all of the Garness men were helping me out. After a long day and several stalks, we finished the job. I have a newfound respect for antelope, and I am thankful for the help from my friends and family.
