It was September 4, 2004, and I was bowhunting in central Oregon for mule deer. It was early morning about 8 a.m. and the weather was warming up when I spotted a perfectly polished 4x3 mulie step into my area. I was situated next to a thicket line and had my stand placed on a well used trail. As I watched the buck close in to my lane at 45 yards, I knew I had to take a shot or I'd lose this large brute. As he quartered away, I drew back my bow, settled my pin into the front shoulder and let her rip. My arrow found its mark to the buck's chest. After a short stalking job I found the mulie about 80 yards from my tree stand.
