I’ve hunted deer for 55 years now, almost exclusively with a bow for the last 25. I’ve taken some nice ones, but this November I finally tagged a “true monster”. Hunting from a ground blind I’d set up three days before, I was watching several bucks working does out in front of me and thinking, what a nice way to end up this hunting trip. Then, in the last hour of the hunt, this giant walked in from behind me. I had to wait for my heart rate to slow before I could even think about making a decent shot. Fortunately, he obliged me and I made a double lung shot. However, I didn’t know that for sure so I gave him 3 hours before going out with family to search for him. He didn’t go 125 yards before piling up. I’m feeling blessed for sure!
