Blood tracker John Engleken and his bloodhound Jesse.
with John Engleken
John Engleken and his dogs don't just trail wounded game, they track blood. Engleken, along with his dogs, is a professional blood tracker who can take up a trail whether hot or cold and almost with certainty take it to its conclusion. John began working with blood-trailing dogs back in 1980, and after almost three decades of trailing he's gained a world of knowledge about what wounded animals do.
In addition to the two months Engleken spends in caribou camps in Quebec, he spends almost three full months in Illinois each fall helping hunters recover wounded whitetails. Last year he and his bloodhound Jesse helped a hunter in Illinois find a massive trophy whitetail that sported 30 antler points.
