Archer's Wanted For School Tour

Famed Trick Shot Archer Bob Markworth Is Looking For Help

Every second our third year for the past 25 years, I have managed to set aside my busy schedule of arranging bowhunting trips and performing on night club stages, to traveling instead around the country, appearing in hundreds of schools bringing archery to students in the form of an informative and entertaining school assembly program. This is a rewarding experience for me, just knowing that a lot of these kids in very small towns across rural America may never before have had a chance to see a live variety act or had the opportunity to learn about how much fun a person can have shooting a bow and arrow.

It's a labor of love, these school assembly tours. They certainly don't have the glamour of a Las Vegas casino booking or a three-week gig on a cruise ship, but the positive response from the kids to our assembly program, more than compensates for all those other superficial trappings. There are times however, when I find myself torn between two loves, wishing I could be in two places at the same time. Once again I find myself confronted with this familiar dilemma.

This fall, September 22nd to be exact, my assistant and I are scheduled to begin another six-month school assembly road tour bringing us to schools in Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Utah, Colorado, Illinois, and Ohio. Simultaneously, a publicity tour has been arranged for me to promote my newly released video about the sport of archery, "The Arrow Master." Unable to do both, I am now desperately searching for someone to take my place on my school tour, preferably a couple that can travel together and are willing to spend a few months on the road driving from town to town, visiting the schools of rural America. A motor home or pickup truck with camper would be an ideal mode of transportation, as that would considerably reduce accommodation expenses.

No experience in public speaking or exhibition type shooting is necessary, though it would be helpful. I will personally tutor and teach the person or persons applying and supply them with all the training, equipment, and props necessary to present the 45-minute assembly program. Previous associates that I have trained and sent on the road have included, Don Brown and April Moon, Arlie and Cathy Clift, Mike and Fay Binney and Kathy and Byron Korby. Their efforts were most rewarding and they were well received by all the students.

The only necessary requirements are that the interested party must be a reasonably good shot with a bow, able to comfortably address an audience on stage over a microphone, and have a genuine desire to acquaint the students with our great sport of archery. The format of this highly successful and proven assembly program, that is so well received by students of all ages, can be learned within a single week, and I will spend additional training time if necessary. Starting salary is $1,500 per week, excluding road expenses.
