When it comes to shopping for a new crossbow, some hunters go into the process knowing they need to stay under a certain dollar figure, while others simply want the best model that money can buy, especially when it comes to accuracy, speed and handling.

The vast majority of archery hunters, however, usually fall somewhere in the middle of this, on the hunt for a crossbow that offers solid performance and safety features yet won’t result in a big bill on the credit card. It’s this finely-balanced blend of quality, reliability and affordability that makes the 2022 Wicked Ridge Crossbows — designed and built by TenPoint Crossbow Technologies — so appealing.

Wicked Ridge’s new product lineup is highlighted by the fastest Wicked Ridge crossbow the company has ever produced, as well as a second model that shoots 400 fps and comes with an advanced cocking and decocking system, all the while coming in at only $800.

Fury 410 De-Cock — Fastest Wicked Ridge Ever

The brand-new Fury 410 De-Cock is Wicked Ridge’s fastest and shortest crossbow ever. Checking in at 29 inches long and 9 inches wide, this horizontal bow features a narrow profile thanks to its reverse-draw assembly and is easily maneuverable in close confines, yet it’s capable of sending bolts downrange at speeds of up to 410 fps thanks to its 200-pound draw weight and 15.5-inch power stroke. The bow, which features 11.7-inch limbs and the company’s Reaper Cam System, also comes with the new ACUdraw De-Cock system, which provides both safe and easy cocking and decocking of the bow.

The ACUdraw De-Cock uses a cranking system, cocking sled and 1,000-pound-strength Nylon strap to draw the bowstring back, reducing the crossbow’s substantial draw weight to approximately 5 pounds of force. Then, when you’re done hunting, you don’t need to fire a discharge bolt or shoot into a target to decock the bow. Instead, you simply hook the cocking sled back onto the string, push the decock button on the bow and turn the handle counter-clockwise to lower the string. The ACUdraw system automatically locks the handle in place if you stop turning, or if your hand accidentally slips off the handle during the cocking/decocking process, helping to eliminate the potential for injury or damage to the bow.

At roughly 7.5 pounds without accessories, the Fury 410 De-Cock ($1,099.99) is fairly lightweight, with a new TACtical X stock that features several strategic cutouts to help reduce the weight and provide better in-hand balance. Other highlights include Wicked Ridge’s new D-1 two-stage, zero-creep trigger — reportedly the company’s smoothest trigger ever — and a new Dry-Fire Prohibitor designed to prevent the crossbow from accidentally discharging without a bolt in place.

The Fury 410 De-Cock, which is finished in TenPoint’s new Peak XT camo, comes as a ready-to-shoot package, with TenPoint’s RangeMaster Pro Variable Speed Scope, three of the company’s new Match 400 carbon bolts, a string stop system, 3-bolt quiver and more.

Raider 400 De-Cock — Exceptional Game-Getter

Only a few feet-per-second slower than its cousin, the Fury 410 De-Cock, the new Raider 400 De-Cock is more than capable of handling any big-game bowhunting needs, sending bolts at their target 400 fps. Plus, the crossbow comes with the new ACUdraw De-Cock system, yet it retails for an impressive $799.99, a solid price point for a model with these types of features.

If you’re looking for a crossbow that’s lightweight and handles well, then the Raider 400 De-Cock is absolutely a model to consider. The crossbow, which is powered by 11-inch WRX double-laminated limbs and 5S cams (185-pound draw weight), measures 31.5 inches long excluding the foot stirrup and is 15 inches wide when cocked, with a weight of 6.5 pounds without the accessories. In addition to the ACUdraw De-Cock, the Raider 400 De-Cock comes with the aforementioned D-1 two-stage, zero-creep trigger (3.5-pound pull) and TenPoint’s Dry-Fire Prohibitor. Like the Fury 410 De-Cock, it’s a ready-to-shoot package, arriving with a TenPoint 4x32mm scope, three Match 400 carbon bolts and a 3-bolt quiver. It’s also finished in the Peak XT camo pattern.

Broadheads, Bolts and Packs

For 2022, Wicked Ridge has also rolled out several new accessories designed to support the Wicked Ridge crossbow line. First is the Match 400, a 400-grain carbon bolt with a new stainless steel insert that’s designed to produce even tighter shot groups. Wicked Ridge says the new bolts offer an improved 14 percent FOC, which generates 20 percent tighter groups than previous generations. The Match 400 comes in three- and six-packs with TenPoint’s Alpha-Nock HP ($39.99-$69.99) and three-packs with Alpha-Brite lighted nocks ($69.99).

The 2022 Wicked Ridge accessories include the Match 400 carbon bolt, the Impact mechanical broachead, and the Ambush crossbow pack.

If you’re looking for a new game-getter to tip your Wicked Ridge bolts, the Impact Mechanical Broadhead ($34.99 per 3) promises to cut deeply and leave lots of blood for tracking. This 100-grain, rear-deploying 2-blade features a stainless steel ferrule, bone-crushing tip and ultra-sharp blades that produce a 2-inch slice. The Impact’s floating blade design ensures the blades won’t open in flight, helping to deliver fieldpoint accuracy.

Lastly, Wicked Ridge has created a new soft bowpack designed to hold any Wicked Ridge Crossbow model produced from 2019 through the present. Billed as the most affordable crossbow pack ever, the Ambush Crossbow Pack ($129.99) is 33 inches long, 17 inches wide and 11 inches deep. In addition to holding your crossbow while in the field or in transit, the pack features two external, zippered pockets for accessories and extra gear, as well as two side elastic pockets for items like water bottles or a quiver. It also comes with a top-mounted rubber grip handle for easy carry by hand, as well as hanging from a hook while you’re in your stand.
