Rinehart’s RhinoBlock Target

by Daniel Beraldo   |  October 28th, 2010 0

As signs of foam annihilating broadhead practice begin blowing around your yard, it might be time to invest in something new. For the past five years, I’ve been a big fan of Rinehart’s self-healing, solid foam 3-D targets. And my four-year-old 18-1, besides being a tad faded from sitting out during hunting seasons, is in remarkable shape and perfect shooting condition.

Rinehart’s self-healing foam is designed for easy arrow removal and impressive stopping power. The unique material has a high ability to maintain its integrity, and foam slivering is minimized when shooting broadheads. For 2010, Rinehart is revolutionizing the portable target market with their RhinoBlock — a portable target that features a removable locking insert. Just like with Rinehart’s 3-D targets, this insert section will help dramatically prolong the life of the target.

Measuring 16x16x13 inches and weighing 20 pounds, the RhinoBlock features a total of six shooting faces. Four sides include fluorescent green target zones of different sizes, and the other two sides sport a molded and textured deer body (one side has an outlined vital aiming section and the other details a deer’s anatomically correct vital organs).

Testing the target was quick and easy. To remove the locking tube that channels through the side and into the removable insert, you will need pliers or even a multi-tool. The tube was easy to grab, slid out easily and, thanks to the locking channel incorporated into the target body, slid easily back into place. The coolest thing about this target is the foam.

After pulling an arrow out, the hole practically disappears. If it wasn’t for the discoloration from impact, you wouldn’t even know where the arrow had hit. The hybrid RhinoBlock combines benefits typically found in 3-D targets with the portability and convenience typical of block-style targets. It’s definitely one of the most innovative targets introduced to date. MSRP: $149.99 (RhinoBlock); $45.99 (replaceable insert)
