New Bowhunting Gear for 2013

New Bowhunting Gear for 2013

Let's face it, bowhunting is a sport of precision, relentless practice and endless fine-tuning. That's the beauty of our pastime. It's also the reason bowhunters spend months painstakingly preparing for one fateful shot.

Because every fraction of a hair matters, it's imperative to have the right gear for every single challenge. Whether it's the ever-trustworthy ThermaCELL — which helps ensure you're not inadvertently waving off deer along with mosquitoes — or the Bionic Buck II 3D target for real world hunt simulation, we've got the new gear you need for a successful 2013 season.

iSeries 3614 Parallel Limb Bow Case

Have a new bow that features an axle-to-axle length of 32 inches of less? Have an older bow that just doesn't fit in your old case correctly? Check out the iSeries 3614 Parallel Limb Bow Case from SKB Cases.

Each and every iSeries injected molded waterproof case is constructed with high-strength material for a durable product that will ease your mind while on the road or in the air. The case features three trigger latches, four reinforced padlock locations, cushioned snap-down handles on three sides and recessed, inline skate style wheels.

Case measures at 35x14.25x4 inches and will hold up to a dozen arrows in the lid of the case.

Price: $209

Lone Wolf Mountainside All Weather Series

The Mountainside All Weather Series from Lone Wolf Knives features a little something for everybody. N680 blade steel and high-density orange Santoprene handles are part of each of the three new knives — the Skinner, Drop Point and Caper 2. A specialized grip texture ensures performance will never drop in any environment.

Blade length is 3.55 inches on the Drop Point — the longest in the set — while the Skinner is 2.65 inches and the Caper 2 comes in at 2.35 inches.

Price: $80 (Skinner & Drop Point), $75 (Caper 2)

Rinehart Raptor

Rinehart is continuing to expand its long line of successful archery targets in 2013 with the Raptor Series — a line that the company feels will be the smartest, most durable bag target that the industry has seen.

With the Smart Core Technology, the new line will easily stop anything thrown its way — including crossbow bolts. Even the graphics on the target face are taken to the next level in conjunction with the Raptor-infused outer lining, which allows the target to outlast both shots and Mother Nature's fury.

Shooters can choose from two sizes, both of which are light enough to be transported anywhere you need the target to go.

ShotBlocker with ArrowShield

The new ShotBlocker with ArrowShield technology from Delta McKenzie Targets is an exciting new way to take your shooting practice anywhere. The target features the same welded core patented technology that the consumers are used to, but this time with a twist.

The new energy absorbing outer wrap slows arrows down making the target more durable and longer lasting. The high impact full-color graphics are the ultimate in realism and add excitement to shooting practice.

Targets are available in two models — bowhunter blue and crossbow orange. Both dimensions are 18x18x14 inches.

Price: $89 (Bowhunter), $109 (Crossbow)

Bionic Buck II 3D Target

With the Bionic Buck II 3D Target standing in your backyard, you might just get a few looks from anyone passing by. It could be due to the life-size body and 180-inch double drop tine rack! Or it simply could be your neighbors wondering where to get an archery target like the one you have.

Morrell Targets has made this target with Reverse Vital Technology — there are raised vitals on one side of the deer and universal scoring rings on the other. Once your kill zones are shot out, users can simply switch the head and butt place to have a fresh set of vitals on the other end.

Made of 100 percent flexback self-healing foam for easy arrow removal. Will stop field points, fixed-blades or mechanical broadheads.

Bushnell BackTrack HuntTrack

For all of you that loved the BackTrack GPS last season, Bushnell is at it again with the release of the HuntTrack system. Featuring solunar tables, barometric data and predictive animal activity, the new device also has the ability to store up to 20 numeric waypoints and five available icons.

That makes marking and locating your treestands, trail cameras or downed game quick, easy and painless. The HuntTrack also provides other useful information like time, temperature, altitude, and latitude/longitude coordinates. Also, you will love the breadcrumbs feature that allows users to record the exact route taken so that you can retrace that route at any time.

Price: $165

ReadHead 4-Sided Foam Target

Practice all off-season with the 4-Sided Layered Foam Archery Target from RedHead. This all-purpose backstop features layer upon layer of high-density foam for superior durability and is designed for four-sided shooting.

Black sides are built to take both broadheads and field points; green sides are restricted for field tips only. A built-in carrying handle makes transport easy.

Price: $49

ThermaCELL

The archery industry's favorite insect repellent is back and better than ever with a brand new look. Featuring Realtree's brand new Xtra pattern, you now have insurance that the look of your mosquito defense system will blend in perfectly with your surroundings.

As always, the ThermaCELL unit creates a 15x15-foot zone of protection that is up to 98 percent effective against biting insects. Unit measures 7.5 inches in length, 1.5 inches thick, and weighs in at 6.4 ounces with a full butane cartridge.

Price: $29

Elite Series Bowfile Case

The additions keep on coming for Lakewood Products. The company has now unveiled its new Elite Series of Bowfile drop-in bow cases, featuring an 18 percent reduction in overall weight.

That's not all, however, as the newly engineered interior structure and components make the cases tougher and stronger than ever. Still there is the convenience that you will have out in the woods. Simply open the case and drop your bow inside, without the need to detach your quiver, and you're completely ready to roll when you get to your desired hunting location.

Price: $189

Archer Bow Press from X-Press

Perfect for your garage or basement comes the Archer bow press from X-Press. The Archer is a similar device to the Pro Model, but without the speed-adjustment features only archery shops should require.

The Archer also carries a lower price but will still work on any compound or crossbow model. Padded shelves support your riser, and each unit is equipped with the Safety Lock System.

Price: $699
